ABOUT ME
I am Jisha Syriac. My journey into the world of psychotherapy began long before I earned my degree. It started with a search for purpose. For years, I worked in the corporate and not-for-profit sectors, wearing the hats of an HR professional and a UX designer. Yet, amidst the deadlines and projects, I felt a persistent sense that something was missing. A deeper connection, a more meaningful purpose in life. It was in those moments of questioning that I discovered my true calling: to understand the human heart and be present for others in their struggles and growth.
Migrating to Melbourne over a decade ago, I experienced the profound shift that comes with embracing a new place, pace, and community. Alongside the joy of raising my children, I navigated the complexities of adjusting to a new culture, balancing work, family, and the evolving sense of self.
This desire for deeper understanding led me to pursue my Graduate Diploma in Counselling and then Master’s in Counselling and Psychotherapy, where I learned the skills and insights to guide others through their life's challenges. I am a member of PACFA and CCAA. But more than that, it deepened my belief that healing is a shared journey—one where the smallest steps can bring the most profound transformations.
To me, being a counsellor/psychotherapist is not just a job; it’s a calling. It’s about walking beside you as you face the shadows of stress, anxiety, or loss, and helping you uncover the light that still shines within. It’s about creating a space where you can breathe, speak your truth, and find the courage to move forward. I believe in the power of listening—not just to the words, but to the pauses, the emotions, and the stories that shape who you are.
I bring my own life experiences into each session, with an understanding of what it means to start over, to seek balance, and to hope for something more. As a mother, an immigrant, and someone who’s faced the complexities of life, I know that the path isn’t always smooth—but it is always worth walking. My aim is to help you find your own path, with compassion, warmth, and the belief that together, we can navigate whatever comes our way.
If you’re ready to begin this journey, I am here—ready to listen, to guide, and to help you discover the strength that has been within you all along.
